Choosing a breast reconstruction method when planning radiotherapy in breast cancer patients

The list of indications to adjuvant radiation therapy for breast cancer patients was extended in recent years, regardless the type reconstruction. Surgeons and radiologists have choose most appropriate sequence reconstruction reduce risk complications. Radiotherapy is one main factors causing complications undergoing reconstruction, vice versa, implant might hinder radiotherapy, preventing proper delivery required dose. Both oncologists try incidence complications, which an important interdisciplinary aim. This article investigates international experience well-known centers Department Oncology Reconstructive Breast Skin Surgery, P.A. Herzen Moscow Research Institute, a branch National Medical Radiology Center, Ministry Health Russia. We analyzed choice method radiotherapy after surgery developed recommendations choosing optimal reconstructive surgery.
